TAXIS
Taxis are usually ivory-coloured, although you can still see some black taxis with green roofs, the traditional colour of taxis in Portugal. The price is indicated on the taximeter, and the charges are affixed inside the vehicle. Alternatively, you may ask the driver.
Calling for a taxi by telephone incurs a charge of 0.80 Euros, and carrying luggage in the boot adds a further charge of 1.60 Euros, regardless of the number of items or weight. Cots, baby buggies, wheelchairs or mobility aids are carried free of charge. Outside the city or town centres, taxis charge by the kilometre, with the price agreed beforehand between the driver and passenger. Return tolls, where applicable, are paid for by the customer. Tipping is optional, and the usual sum is around 5 to 10% or you can just round up the amount to be paid.
